Artist Bio

Jade Kai (they/he) is a multidisciplinary, multi-media artist.

Jade explores themes of body and embodiment, queer and trans identity, and kinship and culture from the lens of their nonbinary, transgender, and mixed white & African American subjectivity.

Jade majored in Visual Art at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, and has taken courses at the Pratt Institute and The Art Students League.

Jade’s graduate education and teaching in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies coalesce with their creative work in representations of autonomous self-expression, nonconforming practices of self-making, and being in caring relationship with humans, animals, and the earth.
